We have the first edition of the Condor XL. We love it a lot. However, we find it sad that Roofnest discontinued the awning matching this first model. Since this new awning doesn't fit the old model, it would be nice you would consider to make a new and improved awning for the Condor and Condor XL. When we buy a tent at that price (5000$CAD), we don't expect to change it after 2 years because the new model is out and nothing is available anymore for the first one, we want it for the long term and still buy accessories.
It would be awesome to get a better sense of how big the storage bags are for the kit pieces. I love the idea of this but how much additional room do I need to account for inside my vehicle during transit?
They are pretty huge, I just bought these addons

according to your website it says weight is 130 lbs....is that the dynamic weight ????? will my factory 152 lbs TOYOTA CH R roof bars hold this tent ? IF SO, this is the one for me...because the other one from TENTBOX weighs at 141 lbs
12" is too thick these days, and too heavy + good luck if you have a warranty claim...

These look so interesting, but I could never spend the coin to buy one of these from any of the more premium companies without trying one on my rig on a few trips. Id be afraid I wouldnt like something about it and have a hard time selling it afterwards. So for now Im stuck with hauling less weight lol 😊

Fingers crossed our recently purchased sparrow doesnt have the cracking problems, I see why they added a new top for v2. Anyone elses latches not staying latched? Ours come undone.

I haven't experienced the cracking people are talking about and my tent has been on the car since day one for two years, in Seattle. But I would say with this tent that if you're solo camping its very hard to close on your own. Unless they've changed something, which isn't advertised, it will still be difficult. I believe its creative editing in this video when closing the tent. Just get a clamshell or other tent if you're alone most of the time. I love my Roofnest other than that.
I think to close this you must climb your car or something
I made the fwd cam strap dangling from roof longer (approx 8') and ran it through the cam. When breaking down, I pull this strap from the bumper of the car and suck the front of the tent down almost closed then move to the rear. The cam holds it in place, then I close the rear normally and move back to stuffing sides and closing the front. Game changer. I've also heard of people swapping the struts for lighter duty ones, they're likely beefier than they need to be. Additionally, I've seen people on RUclips add rope/pulley to each corner with a ratcheting mechanism so they can go around and pull the string and slowly ratchet it closed. I like this idea, but it's more holes to drill in the tent and more dangling ropes. I like how this new version has latches on the sides. Would be nice if they improved ease of closing the unit though.
Too bad roofnest won't sell the new roof to those who spent thousands on the prior one that is made of thin plastic that cracks at every enter/exit water channels.
You can go to a shop and have them make you one.
Wonder why they changed the roof of the sparrow. They have known manufacture defects (look at everyone online complaining about the same thing) with the first generation where the clear coat starts to crack and fade, as well as cracks in the fiberglass shell in 2 years of use.. Wonder if this roof will hold up longer than 2 years with LineX. Buyer BEWARE, Roofnest does not honor or stand by their quality of work/manufacturing.
The only thing I was offered a 500$ credit that they offer all the time as a 'promo' by the way, to purchase another tent. I'm stuck now with a 4000$ Tent that has leaks, mold and is completely useless. Sad to see these American companies crafting such poor quality, probably because its made in china and not in the USA.
Crazy cause I hear this a lot but they took care of my issues. I had the tiniest crack near one of the front bolts (literally nothing) but my 2 year warranty was about to expire in less than a week. I sent over an email + photos and within a few days they sent me a replacement top shell. Had to have my 2 buddies help me switch it out (took a couple hours cause we left the tent on my car) but their customer service was on point. They even sent me a free feather bed, all I did was ask about when they were restocking and she threw it in free for me. Seeing the sparrow 2 makes me want to sell my XL and get this though D: Edit: grammar + spelling 😅
Hurts, I bought the adventure XL in 2022, came out in 2021, discontinued by 2023 and I cannot get replacement parts for it now (y)
Had a similar experience with a $500 credit, which I got them to give me cash because they said their only solution was to spray the top with truck bed liner. Wouldn't have worked since I still cant get all the plastic flakes off. No leaks in mine but the latches and zippers are starting to degrade. @@Jalfo027

Depends upon the dimensions of your setup (vehicle etc). I have a 2022 Tacoma double cab short bed and a bed cover with bed racks and a Yakima HighRoad bike rack . For me, plenty of space for this RTT shifted to one side (left for me) and the bike rack with plenty of clearance away from the tent. It’s only 44” wide for folding out to the left/right and 47” long. Math it out vs. your situation.
Any reason(s) you guys went with a 43” width? 55” would’ve been soooo much better. Ugh!
Defeats the purpose of this product. Get the XL or different choice from RoofNest if desire bigger. I chose this because it is small / easy to store in my limited space Condo (the front patio closet storage for me, aka ‘the bike garage’ and flash water heater).
Was the issue with the first Condor Overland not laying flat once extended addressed here? In the video it still looks like the floor only levels out once weight is being put on the ladder from being stood on.

That's super dope! Does Roofnest sell the bike mount, or other optional awnings? There was one by Alu-Cab one that folds out to a shower area that was really cool!

I came to the comments to see what people thought about this vs the ikamper mini... Was thinking about trading my ikamper for a roofnest. But after seeing the amount of concern and how you guys only responded to the positive comment whilst ignoring everyone else has me set on keeping what I have lol.

I'll stick to my Tuff Stuff Trailhead. It has far more room, views out all 4 sides plus the roof, and an annex room for less than 1/3 the cost of a clamshell
